Clara Humby of Roddickton is a nursing student at Western Regional School of Nursing in Corner Brook. After completing her Bachelor of Nursing degree, she wants to work in the province, either on the west coast or northern peninsula of Newfoundland. Clara eventually wants to complete a master’s program to become a nurse practitioner in the province.

Clara enjoys volunteering and dedicates her time to several organizations. She is a leader for Shinerama, Canada’s largest post-secondary fundraiser, aimed at helping find a cure for cystic fibrosis. She has also participated in Relay for Life, and volunteered with her class at the National Special Olympics, where she assisted with health promotion and screening activities.

In the past, Clara has also volunteered with blood donor clinics and recreation committees. She is involved with the Student Services Committee for nursing school and works as both a lab assistant and library monitor. Clara has also spent a summer working as a nurse collegian in a long term care facility.
