The Town of L’anse au Loup recently completed renovations on the local swimming pool, made possible with funding from the IGA. The pool in the town has been in operation since 1984 and had only minimal renovations in recent years.

It is the only facility in the area and services residents of towns all along the Labrador Straits.

Key areas of the renovations were:

  • The pool deck: the entire deck around the pool was removed and replaced with new materials. Post and beams underneath the pool were also replaced.
  • Changing room/washroom vanities: new vanities, toilets, showers, and all plumbing fixtures have been installed. There are also new light fixtures and flooring throughout.
  • New pool steps and paint: steps have been installed in the pool to help ease of access. The entire pool, along with the new steps, deck, and flooring, has been fibre glassed, sanded, and gel coated.

The benefits from grants received from the IGA – along with ACOA and the Town of L’anse au Loup – will guarantee that the pool will be around for years to come. Town Manager Janice Normore says “the funding received from IGA was a blessing and a very worthwhile endeavor for both our town and IGA.”
